Medinilla in a wicker basket

Medinilla in a wicker basket
The Medinílla Magnifica comes from the tropical mountainous regions in the Philippines. There are approximately 400 different species of Mediníllas, but only the Magnifica is sold as a house plant. Ideally, the plant should be kept at a temperature of between 15 and 25 ºC. Place the plant in a light and sunny spot with plenty of fresh air. From the beginning of April to the end of October keep the plant out of direct sunlight, but from the beginning of November to the end of January make sure that the plant gets as much light as possible. Keep the potting compost moist but take care to ensure that the potting compost does not get too wet. Use a rich potting compost and feed the Medinílla once a month. To keep the leaves in good condition spray regularly with luke warm softened water. The pink flower is made up of a large number of clustered flowers with one or two whorls and is approximately 30 cm long. Repotting is best done in the spring. If the plant is repotted, the plant can be cut back if necessary.
The best tips for caring for your plant:
Good light, but no bright sunlight. Temperature max. 25 ºC. Temperature min. 17 ºC. Keep damp, compost must not dry out. Do not leave excess water in saucer/dish. Fertiliser not necessary.
The Medinella is proposed in a wicker basket of 19 cm, the height of the plant is 65 cm.
